When will the bright moon appear? Raising my wine, I ask the blue sky.
I wonder in the celestial palaces, what year it is tonight.
I long to ride the wind and return there, yet fear the crystal towers and jade halls are too high and cold.
I rise and dance, playing with my shadow—how unlike the mortal world!

The moon rounds the red pavilion, dips through silk-curtained windows, and shines on the sleepless.
It should hold no resentment, yet why does it always wax full when we part?
People have sorrow and joy, parting and reunion; the moon has its dimness and brightness, waxing and waning.
Since ancient times, nothing has been perfect.
May we all live long and share the beauty of the moon, even a thousand miles apart.
